It works on the plugins you own.
Insert Knobpilot as an audio effect on a track or bus. Its scanner finds the AU and VST3 effects installed on your Mac, and the assistant builds a chain of up to sixteen of them. The effects run inside the rack with their own sound and licenses.
It controls the effects inside its own chain, not plugins inserted elsewhere in your DAW. See what runs inside the rack.
Ask for a sound, or for one exact change.
“Give this drum bus a little glue. Keep the snare punchy.”
“Reduce this EQ band by 2 dB. Leave the compressor alone.”
A broad request can start a whole chain; a precise one changes a single setting. When the source or the goal is unclear, it asks first. You can also ask what a control does without changing it.
Every change, written down.
After a run you see each plugin it touched and each setting, from the old value to the new one, with what the rack measured afterwards.

It measures. You listen.
Knobpilot measures the audio on your Mac: level, tone, dynamics. The assistant reads those numbers with your request; it does not hear the recording the way you do. So the last word is your ears.
Original, Previous, Current
Your track without the rack, the rack before the last change, and the latest settings. Switch while the track plays.
Match loudness, then decide
Match loudness evens the level so you judge the change, not the volume. Revert to previous undoes the last change.
Open any plugin’s own editor to take over by hand, or save the rack as a preset. Stop halts further AI work; changes already applied stay, so check the rack before you continue.
Your project keeps its history.
Recent chat history is saved with the rack in your DAW project. Reopening starts a fresh session with that context instead of repeating old actions, so a shared project carries its conversation too.
Audio and manual controls keep working without AI. New requests need internet, an active plan or trial and remaining credits. See the plan.
