Installation
Installer warnings, formats, rescanning and finding Knobpilot in your DAW.

Check compatibilityActivation and billing.
Start the free trial in the plugin’s account dialog, or activate it with the key from your purchase email. Website sign-in is separate. To change or cancel a subscription, use Manage billing in your account. Signing out or removing an activation does not cancel renewal.
A plan works on two computers. If the plugin says the license is active on the most computers it allows, sign out on the other computer, or, if that one is lost or wiped, remove its activation from your license key in the Polar customer portal (Manage billing in your account).
AI is unavailable.
Check your connection and account status. An expired entitlement or insufficient allowance can prevent a new request. Existing chains and manual controls remain available. If a request was interrupted, inspect the rack before sending another one; some changes may already have been applied.
A plugin crashes your DAW.
Knobpilot remembers which plugins were loading or playing when your DAW went down. When you open the project again, it holds them back and keeps their settings: pick Load anyway in a slot's menu once you want it back. If the project still will not open, hold Shift+Option (Windows: Ctrl+Alt) while it opens. Every Knobpilot slot then opens held, with its settings kept, and you load them back one by one.
Contact.
Tell us what you did and what happened, and paste the diagnostics from the plugin (below). Never send a full license key, API key or access token.
Copy diagnostics.
In the plugin window, open the account dialog (the Account button, or the gear once Knobpilot is activated, at the right of the top bar) and click Copy diagnostics at the bottom of the dialog. It copies a short text report to the clipboard; paste it into your e-mail. It contains:
- the Knobpilot version and format (AU or VST3), your DAW and its version, macOS and processor;
- your account state: activated or not, the plan and its status, and the last account error;
- the chain: each slot’s plugin name, maker, format and version, and whether it is switched off, missing or reported an error;
- plugins Knobpilot is holding back after a crash;
- the last 200 lines of Knobpilot’s log file (technical events such as plugins that failed to load).
It leaves out your audio, your license key and sign-in token, and your conversation with the assistant. You can read the whole text before you send it.
Log files and crash reports.
If we ask for the full log, it is here:
- macOS:
~/Library/Logs/Knobpilot/knobpilot.log. In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder and paste~/Library/Logs/Knobpilot. The same folder holds the chat and thread logs (chat-….log,threads-….log). - Windows:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Knobpilot\Logs\knobpilot.log.
If your DAW crashed, macOS keeps a crash report: open Console, choose Crash Reports, and pick the newest one named after your DAW (for example Logic Pro), or find it in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports. Attach that file too.
